About HOT Team Campaign

**UPDATE**
SInce the media picked up the story we have learned that a local surgeon has offered to do the surgery at no cost! Leslie will still have costs related to her recovery and getting back on her feet with housing. Funds raised will help to get her back to a place of independence after the surgery is completed.

Our partners with the HOT team (Homeless Outreach Team) are working with a survivor of sexual assault and battery that recently became vision impaired due to mature cataracts. This woman has been trying to navigate homelessness blind and at the mercy of others. Because of her impairment she cannot work which makes her ineligible for rehousing programs. But-there is good news! Cataract surgery for both eyes could restore her vision to a place where she will once again be able to navigate the world independently- including gaining employment. Programs for pro bono medical help have a waiting list that may leave her blind and without housing potentially for months. We are asking the community to come together and help provide this surgery in a timely manner so that the resources available to her can be accessed and she can be safe. The HOT team is supporting her as best they can but vision surgery will allow them many more options to help her get back on her feet long term!
